This is data recording, mostly for me. It may be boring.
I got a pedometer (this one) for Christmas. It’s a fun little toy - a good reminder that although I blithely say “I’m a college student, I walk everywhere!” that doesn’t always add up to as much as I’d like to believe it does. I’ve been tracking my steps per day this month, and it’s really interesting. Confirms that I’m far too capable of sitting on my ass all day, and that I’m also capable of walking quite a lot without really noticing it.
Average daily steps: 6,540
Days over 10k: 5
Days over 8k: 10
Days below 4k: 8
I don’t quite trust the aerobic step counter - IIRC, it works by switching on when it detects ten minutes or more of continuous steps, and playing ultimate seems to have just enough standing still to keep the thingy from counting it as aerobic. Which is kinda silly.
But, for the sake of data:
Average aerobic steps: 1,104
Days with 0 aerobic steps: 18
The first big peak on this graph is Arisia Friday - I walked a bunch that day, taking public transportation to (the neighborhood of) the Hyatt (before the con shuttles were running), and then was helping load in. School started on Jan 16, and the counts for the in-school portion of the month are substantially higher.
A good toy.

Yeah, the “aerobic” algorithm is full of crap. In my field, we call it a “Wild ass guess!” Seems similar to the exercise machines which estimate the number of calories burned.
